Adapting to the rocky high grounds of Fermi Island, the zzuzu have replaced their ancestor (with the help of their cousins) and evolved a rather peculiar form of locomotion compared to that of their ancestor and relatives, brought about by a random mutation. Moving about on their front limbs, their lightweight tails are used to help in maintaining balance, as well as being used as an extra limb in order to rest upon from time to time. Their hind pair have atrophied due to lack of necessity, though they are still used to transport their aquatic larvae between pools should the one they're in begin to dry up. In this way they have become more attentive parents, protecting their young from danger in order to ensure maximum survivability.
The diets of these beasts have become focused on the various species of supershrooms. Even their young feed on these, as their parents will drop them into the pools they mature in. Such a constant source of food helps them to mature quickly. This has helped them to become one of the most common creatures deep in the Fermi wilderness.
