Ancestor:Descendants:

The yellow firegrass branched off from the violetgrass and became much taller to take advantage of the strong equatorial sunlight. While the firegrass is growing, it's purple just like its ancestor, but once it reaches its maximum size, it quickly dries out and turns yellow to become more flammable. At the top of each stalk of the firegrass there is a bunch of small purple berries. Inside these berries are hard, fireproof seeds. The firegrass grows across almost the whole savanna, but it grows best in the rich soils around the inferno trees. It is the regular burnings of the inferno trees that distributes the seeds of the firegrass. When one inferno tree bursts into flame, it will ignite the firegrass growing below it. The fire will spread quickly across the savanna, sometimes igniting the other inferno trees as it goes. All that remains after these burnings are the blackened trunks of the inferno trees and the many seeds that have been distributed throughout the ashy soil. The seeds will grow a new generation of firegrass when it rains.
