Ancestor:Descendants:

The few remaining yanprobi, existing in their only remaining nook on Sagan IV, have given way to a new species, which split from their kind. Because of the multitude of autotrophic microbes within the river, the yanispreader feed exclusively upon these. They are in direct competition over food with their ancestors, although since they are less selective over their prey, the yanprobi so far maintain a hold in the area.

To catch and kill their prey, the yanispreader's triple proboscises fold into one another in a manner parallel to their cousins, the ocean yanprobi. This allows them to increase their hydrodynamics for a speedier attack. Once a cell is pierced, they will utilize another change that has occurred in their kind: the outer two proboscises, which are shorter than the middle one, are tapered to sharp points at their outside edges. Not only does this allow for ease in piercing the prey, but it also allows them to perform a most sadistic form of neutralization. Their proboscises are built to spread outwards, which will tear a mortal wound into the cell. This will generally completely neutralize it and allow the yanispreader to feed without risk of harm to itself. It is true that some of the cytoplasm upon which they dine is lost in this process, but to make up for this they will often kill more cells to feed; their speed and ease of the kill allows them to do this without a loss of energy that they cannot easily make up for.

Yanispreader will attempt to eat decacrocus, although are not always successful due to the decacrocus' silicon shell.
