The wright pumpgill split from its ancestor the floating pumpgill. It has left the coast for life in Wright River where it has adapted to freshwater. There were no larger fauna in the river yet so they don't have to worry about large predators. Like their ancestor they can use their pumps to float at the surface eating floating fauna and flora without expending too much energy.
