The vicious barb split from its ancestor the yanimalius probisucker and doubled in size. It developed a jointed cell wall as a defense from other predators while its photosynthesis is virtually used just for cell wall material production. The two side proboscises lengthened and became jointed, they now are pulled back during swimming and can lunge out at prey during attack, also on the joints it has tufts of organelles used for tracking down prey. The middle proboscis is used to hold prey by impalement.
Living Relatives (click to show/hide)
These are randomly selected, and organized from lowest to highest shared taxon. (This may correspond to similarity more than actual relation)
None found. Note that this does not necessarily mean it has no living relatives at all, but that, assuming all taxonomy is filled in, its entire phylum is extinct; any relatives it does have likely do not resemble it.
