With rich, fertile soil covering Spark's Island, it was not long before a member of the highly diverse genus of pioneeroots to take advantage of it. Growing tall within the tropical climate due to island gigantism, this flora thrives and outnumbers its sole competitor, the flatleaf stalk, through the rapid growth it has inherited from its ancestors. It achieves this through its specialized root system. As its roots expand through the sand, new individuals will bud off and grow from them, allowing a new population to establish relatively quickly around a parent plant. However, they are also capable of releasing spores that, once they come in contact with another spore, produce a genetically unique individual. Because of this, new individuals can be born and thus new root forests can begin to "sprout", ensuring the species continued survival on the island.
