The ukback replaced its ancestor, the mantiskipper. Thanks to some mutations and old genes it was able to regain its bipedal locomotion. Much has changed since they last evolved and the species it once fed on have gone extinct. However there are lots of small prey to choose from.
They have doubled in size from their ancestor however they are still very small. To compensated for their lack in size they have an armory of adaptations. These adaptations include a pair of sickle claws on their head, sharp taloned feet, a grasping tail, 2 tail spikes and a harpoon-like tooth. This harpoon-like tooth is hollow and it will use it to get through its prey's exoskeleton. Once inside it will inject digestive juices to cause their insides to turn to liquid. Once the insides are liquefied they can easily drink it out.
They will typically stand in the water wading. They will stand very still until something passes by in the water or in the air. If in the air they can bat it with their claws or grab it with their tail. If in the water they will use their hollow tooth like a harpoon to lunge at prey.
They are not very good swimmers and typically keep to shallow waters. They are solitary and will only meet to mate in the spring. They will lay their eggs directly into the water. The offspring hatch as a larva phase which resembles a uksip terricola. The larva mostly scavenge for food until they are large enough to hunt themselves.
