The twinkorals genus group replaced its ancestors the pioneer twinkoral, buoy twinkoral, jagged twinkoral, joined twinkoral and platebranch twinkoral. They live mostly in shallow waters in freshwater and saltwater, and they can survive without water during low tide in the riparian zone and beaches. They are anchored to the soil via a screw-like root which works in symbiosis with the nitrocycle microbes; thus allowing them to spread to barren coastlines and rivers before other flora. Like their ancestor they reproduce via asexual budding and convert violet light into energy with their yellow chloroplasts. They are an important part of many aquatic ecosystems on Sagan 4.
