The tube urchip split from its ancestor, the bulbshelled urchip. It moved to Blood Lava Tube Sea Caves. There it filtered microbes in the water and cling to the cave walls. Their coloring now matches the black volcanic lava tube. It lost some armor since there were not many predators in the cave. Its bulb-shaped shells keeps all of its organs well protected within it. Its hollow beak bring in water to both breathe and filter-feed.
