The towering grovecrystal replaced its ancestor, the Tribranch Grovecrystal. In order to survive the competition of all the "lurs" it had to grow even taller. It now towers over all the other flora in its range. Its growth cycle is very quick. Once an opening in the canopy opens up it will quickly grow off its parent. Once tall enough it can split from its parent. However they often still are connected to their parents by their roots even after fully grown.
They grow many more crystal leaves than before to help it grow faster. Even if they are somehow blocked by other flora they can still survive through their connecting root system to their parent. Like their ancestor they can reproduce within a week. However, their numbers are kept in check both by herbivores eating them and the "lures" competing for space.
