The towercrusta split from it's ancestor. They have grown taller and doubled the number of cells they are made out of, but they are not visible due to the chitin shells. Their chitin cells are now filled with chloroplast, making it easier to photosynthesize. They form slimy mats on the ocean floor, but juveniles that have not grown chitin shells can be found swimming in open water until they find a suitable spot.
