The tamkor split from its ancestor. As the fuzzbora was busy flourishing throughout the island, some tamjacks followed this new source of food. With an empty biome and a booming food source, these tamjacks grew bigger and slower. The only competition they encountered was their own kind, mostly for mates and living space. Since the newly evolved tamkor could use its ax-like tail to attack or defend (complete with a new chance-mutational pointy spike in the middle), individuals grew large, thick scuttles from their ancestor's body spikes for protection.
Individuals live for 50 years. Male and female pair for life and stake out a several kilometer territory in which to live. Females gestate their young for about a year before giving birth, rearing 2-4 babies in their lifetime. Like their ancestors, they are warm blooded and give birth to live young. The live young live in the warm pouch until they either have grown too big or they grow scales. However they will still nurse milk from the mother for up to a year after birth even if they cannot fit in the pouch. For the first 10 years of their lives the young look like a small version of their ancestor the tamjack; however they will bulk up and grow their armor plates over time, fully maturing after 20 years. The rugged adults do not need to live in nests, however they will construct semi-circular "huts" (in a similar method to their ancestor's floating nests) for the more vulnerable young to use as shelter in their years between leaving the pouch and fully maturing.
