The swamp fisher split from the rusted sauceback. It has evolved very long tusk/mandibles they it uses to pick out the small aquatic creatures in Ittiz Swamp. It does this by combing the water with its tusk/mandibles open slightly, snapping shut the instance it finds something it thinks is food. Their hooves have shrunk to allow better movement through the muck of the swamp. Though they still travel in small social groups, their new food source means that they only need to hunt for themselves and their offspring. They used their ears to both listen in the water for prey movement and for communication. They speak constantly to each other, in low coos, which helps form social bonds and keep the pack together. Their sense of smell is lessened slightly, since it's hard to smell things underwater, but it still uses it to smell the scents of the pack. The feathers on its lower legs have disappeared, to allow smooth walking through the water. Their skin and feathers have changed to a darker reddish color, partly for camouflage from prey, and partly from eating creatures with high iron contents. The slits to their four major micro-lungs on each side are now hidden beneath feathers, which helps keeps water from entering.
