The surfer replaced its ancestor, the beach shrotter, over on Wright. Ever since its ancestors were brought over by the super hurricane on driftwood a new behavior developed. They now use driftwood to surf. They mainly use rainforest driftwood such as the lightning tree since it is hard and buoyant. Immobile plent wood is rubbery and not as stiff. Their physical adaptations are the same as their ancestors except they now have new body colorings to reflect the purple boards they ride on.
They will sit on the driftwood and surf the waves looking for food. By sitting on top they can sneak up on unsuspecting prey. They are very opportunistic and will try to eat just about anything. On land they will dig up buried fauna and uproot flora.
They will build themselves sandy burrows on the beach and raise their family in them. Even though they have pouches they will not go surfing if they have babies in their pouch due to squishing them. So the males must bring back food to their family in the burrow. Several families will build burrows near each other and will form a small pack. This pack will go out hunting together on their surf boards.
They will even hunt together sometimes circling around schools of sea creatures in order to trap them. The boards themselves have become prized possessions and are status symbols. The better the board the higher rank you are within the community. The leader of the community is known as the "Big Kahuna" and will lead them in their fishing hunts.
Overall surfers are very inquisitive and curious creatures with an uncanny ability to get in trouble. They are very adaptable and tend to find new ways of solving problems. They even will surf the waves for fun. This is all thanks to a slightly larger brain than their ancestors.
