The suffocating serpentsaur split from its ancestors to move into the Somarinoa coastal region. The serpentsaur's fins have completely disappeared, and its sail has changed so that the sharp ends can be used as weapons. It does this by coiling around its prey and jabbing the sail spikes into the creature's body.

It still has to rely on catching organisms like the rock beakworm and the hydroneustes for some of its food source, however. Besides its new hunting skills, a few other changes have happened to the serpentsaur. Its snout has grown shorter, as its hunting no longer requires chasing just fish. As well, the serpentsaur can now spend more time on land, and it uses this time for more than just sun bathing. While on land, the suffocating serpentsaur will hunt for young annareptors, reefsnappers and young azeraptors along the coast.
