The sturdy spikeglobe replaced its ancestor, the pioneer spikeglobe, evolving to become less dependent on the nixus. Its lifespan has extended, to compensate for the loss of nixus growth benefits, and has grown a protective shell in addition to it's spikes. Meanwhile, it has now begun to focus on its very resistant spores, rather than the asexual budding form of reproduction. While it still practices the asexual budding, it now takes longer to reproduce using this process.
