The squat limbless replaced its ancestor and shrank in size due to competition with its larger cousin. More compact in form, it feeds primarily on helmethead uksips and uksors. A thick hide beneath which a layer of tiny interlocking bones that acts a bit like chain-mail and are also capable of being "rippled" in order to aid it in moving protects it. It has also evolved a powerful upper tooth modified for digging. It is attached to a bony base via muscles and is capable of being raised up and down. Finally, its internal body temperature is partially self-regulated, making them a bit warmer then their surroundings.
