The spire shrubite split from its ancestor, the symbioship shrubite. Due to island gigantism it was able to grown 10 times its ancestors size. Unlike its ancestor it only lives in Truteal Tropical Shallows and no longer connects to symbioship diamiboard.
In fact now they prevent symbioships from entering the shallows. They grow until they reach the surface of the water. This can be as shallow as a meter up to 40 meters deep. Their shells are very strong and now much more flexible to move with the waves of the water. However if they were this tall on land they would fall down.
Like its ancestor the spire shrubite have smaller conical branches off from the main trunk. They have a hole at the end which siphons in water to filter-feed. These take in oxygen, food, expel excess salt and release their proto-spores.
