Splitting from its ancestor, the spinystalk has evolved a larger, more efficient bulb with larger and longer roots in order to absorb water and nutrients better. Growing in mass within its ranges, they release large clouds of orange spores every few months, of which only a few dozen will take root and trow into adulthood. Their needles have become larger and are now capable of breaking off, causing painful irrititations in herbivores that attempt to eat them.
