Ancestor:Descendants:

The spikeshelled sandflora replaced its ancestor, the curled sandflora. Due to island gigantism, it has grown to 10 times its ancestors size. Its leaves have developed a stronger photosynthetic shell which now has spikes all over them to protect it from ramul surfaceworms. Like its ancestor, it no longer has a digestive tract, and as a result no longer has enough energy to move, thus they are completely immobile. This is ok because its photosynthetic shell has gotten darker and thus can absorb more light. They also have developed airborne spores to help it spread its offspring farther.
