The south polar swarmer evolved from the green swarmer to live in the southern polar waters, splitting from it. It has grown 8 centimeters longer. It is a filter feeder, but it tends to be a bottom feeder. It digs in the sand when finding food.
South polar swarmers swim using wing-like fins, and developed a dorsal fin. They can still use their rear tentacles for swimming.
