The soma korystal split from its ancestor and moved into the open water once again. There they were able to explote the niche of its extinct ancestor, the korystal. The soma korystal is functionally the same as its ancestor. They moved of the caves to escape the predators and overpopulation, only to soon be followed out by the gilltails. They now also extract minerals from the water to reinforce their roots. This protects them from the harsh currents.
