Snowflake balgaechaos replaced its ancestor, the balgaechaos. It has developed a thicker outer covering and its photosynthetic cells have collected into small condensed clumps of cells on each arm. In the center a primitive mouth has formed which will open up and eat other cells. Inside the cells its food will be dissolved in a primitive stomach. Waste is expelled back through the mouth. Its body can stretch and deform still but it is much larger than most other cells in Russ River. This combination of cells and sunlight means it can stay active all the time eating and reproducing.
