Ancestor:Descendants:

The snow sauceback split from its ancestor, the cleaner sauceback. It moved from Ittiz-Ovi Scrub to Ittiz-Nuke Boreal and Ittiz-Nuke Alpine. There it found an abundance of iron fauna to eat. Like its ancestor, its stomach has a high tolerance to iron and will vomit up globs to keep from overdosing on iron. They have also increased their diet to include the snoa which also lives in this cold environment.

To deal with the cold they have developed shaggier feathered coats. It also has white and blue colorings to blend in with the ice and snow. Their extremities are shorter while it has doubled in size to help retain heat. Their metabolisms are higher allowing them to produce the desperately needed heat for surviving in the cold mountains.

Since they depend upon their hearing to "see", they have to rely more on their heat and smelling sense. Their hoofs have become wider to keep them from sinking into the snow. Like their ancestor they are very surefooted on steep cliffs and rocky surfaces. When hunting they usually stalk and ambush their prey.

They will lay their eggs in the summer when the snow is less heavy. They lay 2 to 3 eggs each year, however only one offspring will reach adulthood due to the harsh climate. Their larvae has to hatch and reach adolescence before the arrival of Winter. While saucebacks are normally solitary they will gather in the spring to mate. Males will fight over females with their sharp mandibles and tail spikes.
