The shockshell gilltail split from its ancestor, the reefball gilltail. it has moved to freshwater to feed on the biln. Over time both species had an arms race. The biln evolved into the shockshell with its tough shell and shocking voltage, while the reefball gill tail evolved into the shockshell gilltail with its pink camouflage and multipurpose beak. Its beak can attack the tough shell of the shockshell in a number of ways. The first is it can lift heavy rocks and drop or pound them on the shell to break it. Another method is to stick its beak inside the top hole and pry apart the shell. However this leaves it vulnerable to be shocked. And lastly it can use it like a pick and puncture a hole in the side. Thus it can pry, bash or smash! Shockshell gilltails lay their eggs in the sand which hides them more successful than just straight in the water.
