The shelled enomena replaced its ancestor, on one of its sides are thin skin pouches in which it collects and compacts sand as a type of shell defense/camouflage against predators, on the other side is an pouch inside it which it stores water to support its structure, when in danger it empties this pouch which causes its body to curl on that side so the shells face up. Its tentacles also fill with water to keep them up, this makes them appear translucent, when the water is released the tentacles retract which keeps them safe from damage.
