The seasonal mega-orbitree has descendant from mega orbitrees of the near by Nuke rainforest that migrated to the empty plains that were once the Nuke temperate forest. There they have grown slightly smaller due to the harder conditions of the temperate forests, though not as drastically as expected as it they had no competition there. The new seasonal conditions of hard winters and warm summer that area is characterized with have made it evolve new adaptations. Now in the hard winters when it sometimes snows in the area and the frost is deadly for the orbitrees the seasonal mega-orbitree folds its leaves and grows two sepals to protect its flowers from the cold. That way though it photosynthesizes less its vital light absorbing and reproduction organs are protected.

The seasonal mega-orbitree co-evolved with the hibernating glowlickers that pollinate it and both need each other to survive. The leaves folding technique even evolved that way in order to host the poor defenseless hibernating glowlickers when they hibernate in the winter.
