Ancestor:Descendants:

The savanna chut split off from its ancestor the chut. It has migrated out of the forest and on to the savanna. It has grown bigger and now has huge sail-like ears. These keep them cool in the heat. They spend all day grazing on violetgrass and hugograss. With no major predators around their population has thrived.

They live in social groups of up to 10 individuals with unrelated females and two or three males, usually related. The groups have a home territory and the resident males defend it viciously. They have poor eyesight even though they have 6 eyes. They depend mostly on their huge ears and nose to listen and smell danger such as wildfires.

They will give birth to 1 to 2 babies each year. Babies will stay in their mother pouch and drink milk for the 1st 5 months and then graduate to solid foods like their parents. After then they are much to big to fit in the pouch anymore. However they can stay close by their mother for around a year. Once the new baby is born they will force the yearling to go off on their own to find another herd.
