The twelve-winged worm of Yokto Island was an easy prey, especially to the dangerous flying dart; therefore they evolved into the sandwalkerworm to be able to protect themselves as well as hide. Their wings atrophied - only small stumps on the "belly" of the worm are left. Instead it developed legs to be able to run fast and hide on the ground, as the flying dart isn't as strong on the ground as it is in the air. It also grew to look scarier, but this doesn't work completely. The sandwalkerworm is still hunted by the flying dart, when they are attacked by many enemies at the same time they are weak since they don't have any natural weapons or armor.
