The salidistroid split from it's ancestor and expanded outward. The most glaring difference between the two is that they evolved a dish to collect water. The insides of the dish are coated in metallic minerals they pull from the ground, which they use to reflect sunlight into the dish, heating the snow enough to keep it liquid. During the summer, they shed their dishes and go dormant. Like their ancestors, they are immobile, absorbing nitrogen out of the air and converting it into ammonia for fuel.
