Ancestor:Descendants:

The rustmold genus group has replaced their ancestors the rust mold. This group is truly global in that they are found in every biome, be it on land, the the water, under ground or in the air. They are at the base of all ecosystems in that they are the second component in the iron cycle. After the ferruphiles enter an area, the rustmolds go in and anoxically refining the iron by providing an acid base for electron transfer, allowing an iron redoxing flora to make them useful for higher iron flora and fauna to move in. Some species have formed a symbiotic relationship with iron flora, providing them minerals from the soil in exchange for nutrients.
