The ribbon guttoplaque replaced its ancestor in the salt water foi. They have moved into the foi's acid chamber. They form rows in the thousands held in place by a slime produced as they split. As its host uses acid to digest, the ribbon guttoplaque does not use acid anymore. They are helpful to a point at which they take a large amount of their host's food.
