The reefball bubblehorn has split from its ancestor. The reefball bubblehorn has found a new way to gather food, instead of searching for decaying matter it just rubs it's spikes against reefballs so parts fall off.
The spikes have grown the other way so it's easier to rip the reefballs. When the reefball bubblehorn is done with this process it starts to suck up the pieces that sank to the bottom. The pieces that are too big for the reefball bubblehorn are later eaten by finned bubblehorns when they start decaying.
Because the reefballs are now the reefball bubblehorns main diet, it's skin has gotten a purple pigment.
