The flunejaw followed the grovecrystal krugg into Darwin Temperate Rainforest, and gradually adapted to the new environment. As the sole predator in Darwin Temperate Rainforest when it arrived, it quickly grew, doubling in size. It became more limber and fast, able to run down some of its prey and maneuver with increased agility. Its spines have adapted to mimic the leaves and stalks of the grovecrystal, and, though it uses ambush tactics less often, frequently lies in wait amongst the grovecrystals for the speedier kruggs which it cannot catch. It has gained another back spine, both to aid it in camouflage and in mating battles between males. To help it survive for longer periods far from water sources, it has developed hard-shelled eggs, which, although they still require moisture, can survive without being immersed in water.
