Ancestor:Descendants:

The quhft replaced its ancestor in Darwin; with the warmer weather and competition from other flora like the tubeplage, it has doubled in size. Its primary change its method of growth. As a sapling, the leaves are tender and collect into a teardrop-shaped tuft. At the start of every year, the outermost layer of leaves matures, darkening in color and bending outwards. Thus one can determine the age of an individual by the number of mature leaf layers. It has become so successful that it has spread to all the warmer forest biome in eastern Darwin.

An individual can live up to 25 years. Individuals take a week to germinate. After 2 years the first layer of leaves begins serving a reproductive pourpose, producing fruit annually at the end of the colder months.
