The Pooklookai replaced its ancestor in the maritime biomes of southern Sagan 4. As a juvenile, it lives on the surface of the water, just as its ancestor did. However, after a year of this lifestyle the individual loses its buoyancy and sinks to the bottom. It them submerges itself halfway in the muck and remains there for the rest of its life (up to a decade if undisturbed). As it grows, its mouth distends into a larger and larger funnel, making it a more successful stationary filter-feeder. It still injects is waste through its tail. As pressure builds up around the individual from the detritus, some deep-sea soil is ejected from around the individual in small "halo clouds". It has spread to all darker slopes of the ocean, forming colony-like beds of hundreds of individuals.
