Ancestor:Descendants:

The plated plentsnapper split off from the plentsnapper. Unlike its ancestor, the plated plentsnapper has evolved armor-plating made of hardened skin on its back, which helps protect them from potential predators. It also has a shorter tail than its ancestor, while its neck has become slightly longer so that they can easily reach out for food. Its back fin has turned into pointy spines covered in armor.

The plated plentsnapper still have the ability to change the colors of its skin. However, the armor-plating cannot change color. Another way it is like its ancestor is that it can climb trees, even though it isn't as good at climbing as it was before. When they begin to lay their eggs, they find swamps, pools of water on the ground, or in the trees. They are sometimes vulnerable when laying their eggs; on the occasion, when a plated plentsnapper lays its eggs, it gets attacked and killed by predators.
