The oxidetine replaced its ancestor in the Darth Lava Tube Sea Caves. Its two flagella have thickened even more from its ancestor, and now fulfills the function of attaching to the cave walls. The oxidetine lives as a sessile cell, not moving much. It reproduces by undergoing a partial mitosis in which the young breaks off from the parent along one of the claw like structures. This gives them the appearance of being like a small version of its ancestor. The young will then swim along the wall until it finds a deposit of iron oxides. When one of them dies, they detach from the cave wall. Due to the fact that they reproduce fast, whole clouds of their dead bodies form along the cave walls. The young can then use then can use this organic matter for their own growth and development. The adults feed off of the iron oxides formed from the breakdown of volcanic rocks that contain iron. They are absorbed by the two attachments on its front. And like the young, they can use their dead for sustenance as well.
