The ovi gillfin split from its ancestor, the sail gillfin, and moved into fresh waters to avoid the predators. It evolved a shovel like beak that allows it to better extract fruit from its food. It has shrunk in size, due to the limited space in the rivers, and evolved a much more efficient waste management system, to expel all the excess water from their bodies. The young spend their youth in the coast, feeding on phytoplankton and return to fresh water after 2 years. If they don't get eaten, they can live to be 30 years old.
