Ancestor:Descendants:

Otroutine has split from it's ancestor. Otroutine evolved to use limestone for energy, as well as it's ancestor and it's cousin, calcitine, as food. It is able to ride the infrequent wind currents that sometimes come from the cave entrance. It is able to keep itself in air by spinning, slowing it's descent. Otroutine also will use a specialized cell to capture pockets of oxygen, helium, hydrogen, or any other light gases in an effort to stay afloat even longer. This process is aided by it's other cousin, hydroutine, which is why otroutine don't hunt them. Otroutine will 'hunt' calcitine by using it's flagellum-like structures to tear a cell off of it's chain and then puncture it's cell wall. It then 'drains' the cell of it's contents by 'sucking' it dry and then absorbing the 'husk' into itself. When it can't find any calcitine, for example if it gets stuck on the ceiling, it will use calcite to feed. Otroutine produce carbon-dioxide as a waste product. Otroutine cannot survive in water, limiting them to only solid places.
