Ancestor:Descendants:

The oropede has replaced its ancestor, the snyron. It has developed many new adaptions to improve its survival. A new adaption it has are the 6 mouthed feet. They can step and then swallow iron or carrion it finds. It can control its mouth and not always swallow when it steps. Its green nostrils have multiplied into many holes so it can sniff out iron and carrion better. It has also doubled in size and has a more stout body. The 2 front and 2 back legs have become primitive eye-stalks. They can only sense light and dark with them. Since they cannot see form they are skittish and will hide whenever there is a dramatic change in light and dark.

Like their ancestors they will dig small aquatic burrows in the coastal sands. Their tails bud off small larva which will grow into adults as they eat iron. They can also reproduce via fragmentation if they get broken apart. As long as they have a leg with a mouth intact they can regrow their whole body. When they grow larger they will shed their old iron exoskeleton and then eat it for iron. New shells are gray while old have turned rusty-red.
