The Obsidibend split from its ancestor, populating the rather empty beaches of Eastern Dixon. While it is very similar to its ancestor, there are several key differences. It has developed a more segmented, flexible trunk, which lets it bend in strong winds without snapping; its leaves have an extra joint as well for this purpose. It will release its spores when bent by the wind, giving its spores a better chance of spreading farther. These adaptations allowed it to outcompete its ancestor, the obsiditree, on the southern Dass beaches.
