The Obsidibarrage replaced its ancestor on the Barlowe mainland. Due to the increased pressures from competing flora and herbivores, it has increase both in size and in its rate of reproduction. Its spore chambers now take 2 years to develop, and the number of sets of chambers it grows has more than doubled. These chambers now grow off a stalk which forms in between the leaves. When individual growth sites on the stalk have been used up, the stalk will extend outwards for the next set of spore chambers to form. As the stalk lengthens, it begins to droop under the weight of the spore chambers: the added pull from gravity helps the chambers drop off when matured. other than these changes, it is the same as its ancestor.
