The numflora split from its ancestor, the hoh-humm. It has moved to the cold polar regions of Barlowe. There it shrunk in size and developed thicker leaves. Since its "sail" lost so much heat it evolved into sharp spines to help defend it from predators. Even its stem is shorter and thicker. However it still reproduces asexually with airborne spore. Its leaves not only have a bitter taste like their ancestor but when eaten causes a mild anesthetic. Thus "numbing" the herbivores mouth. This scares off the herbivore since it doesn't know if its getting poked by the spikes or not. Sometimes they will eat the spikes not knowing it and will at the least have a bad stomach ache and at the most die from internal bleeding.
