Ancestor:Descendants:

The nostrilback split from its ancestor, the fishing grasper. It was so successful that it also replaced its relatives the geistrat, ghastrish and murderous vreselijk. The key to its success its its polar adaptions. While its relatives were thin and lost a lot of heat it was bulky and has a warm layer of thick blubber all over. It also has a white camouflage to blend in with the snow, unlike its relatives which had dark black spots that were easy to see.

In addition its butt-nostril has grown along its spine in order to warm up the cold air before it enters its lungs. This long butt-nostril also has a 2ndary use, it is used to communicate and call for mates. With new holes its able to make complex calls just like a musical instrument. Each opening can be opened or closed to create a different pitch. Since its external ears lobes had more surface area to dissipate heat it lost it all together and grew large tympanic membranes instead like primitive plents had. Since it relies on sound and smell more it uses its eyes less and the 4 eyes have revered back to just 2 eyes like early plent ancestors had.

They are quite aggressive and very opportunistic. They work in small packs and are in constant communication. When on the hunt they can use ultra low sound frequencies so the prey cannot hear them calling to each other. This works great over long distances. They use their single wooden tooth to stab prey as well as batting the prey with their sharp wooden claws. Under special circumstances the pack can also stun prey with their loud booming call. The powerful sound wave booms can knock over run prey if aimed correctly.

The alpha male and female mate in the summer. The rest of the pack cannot mate and must help take care of the alpha's offspring. The alpha female will give birth to 3 to 4 offspring each season. They will stays in a den they dig while the rest of the pack go out to hunt. Once they get food, they will bring it back the female and her offspring food by regurgitating it back up. Once the offspring are old enough they will join the pack.
