The neoshrew split from its ancestor, the tigmow. Despite plagues, sinking islands, ice ages and anti-terran sentiment the "shrew" linage has endured the eons. Sometimes become bizarre, while other times mundane, however the neoshrew has returned to its original roots with the help of convergent evolution and resembles the most "terran" looking species yet. However it evolved this way not to be more Earth-like but because the niche was wide open. It barely had to evolve to come this way since the "shrews" were already very much Earth-like.
It has lost its quills and tail ball. It has become a much more plain body plan since it will did not need to change too much. It is still an omnivore but has become a bit more opportunistic. It feeds on smaller prey as well as scavenging. Like all shrews they are warm-blooded, have a pouch, produce milk and give birth to live young. Neoshrews are fast breeders and have large litters of 4 to 6 offspring at a time. They have become a base prey species for many larger predators such as saucebacks. They are generally solitary creatures and will make burrows in the ground or inside of dead trees. They are mainly nocturnal to avoid predators.
