The merennenom replaced its ancestor in LadyM Polar Sea and spread into Rhodix Vents. The main development is the ability to turn its ‘mouth' into the direction of the water current, making it easier to catch the microbes it lives on. Furthermore, its stinging tentacles have improved in their methods of fending off predators. Instead of just stinging once when a tentacle touches an attacking creature, the orange tips will release an irritant that hurts for at least ten minutes, depending on the type of creature. Both the stinging tentacles and the mouth tentacles have grown longer.

The merennenom still has its pumping sacks. However, they now only work in one direction. Merennenoms continuously breath in through their mouth, bringing in food. Once inside, these microbes are digested and the water, together with any waste products, is pumped out through the pumping sacks.
