The majestic cruelclaw replaced its ancestor the cruelclaw. It has taken sexual dimorphism to the extreme. Males have very lavish heads with nostril crests, pronged tusks, bright blue marking and curly coloring changing spines on its back. They also have developed an extra toe on their middle feet so it can grip the ground better when holing up its massive skulls.
It lives much like its ancestor living of the local flora and hibernating in massive burrows during the winter. During the spring mating season males will have huge fights to gain access to the more dull looking females.The winner gets their own harem of females. Females will lay their eggs in huge burrows which they dig during the fall. After fattening up for the winter they will hibernate and then lay their eggs in the spring. A few weeks after these eggs will hatch the female will care for them until the end of summer in which the offspring will have to dig their own burrows for the winter.
Like their ancestors they use their color changing curls to communicate with each other since they are deaf. They also have very acute nostrils which can smell predators and food from miles away. Their favorite food is the sugar sacs from the sugar-trunked balloonarch. These help fatten them up for the winter.
