Ancestor:Descendants:

The luminescent lithoamoeba replaced from its ancestor, the lithoamoeba, and widened its diet. Found only in the Dixon Twilight Caverns, this lithoamoeba has developed bio-luminescence to attract predators such as the digger urzong. This may sound impossible, why would it glow to attract its death? This can be answered simply, the removal of micro-organisms blocking it from ingesting the minerals it requires to live. With this adaptation and its widened diet it succeeded in replacing its ancestor. It has also developed a minor toxin with effects similar to those of tetanus to keep predators eating the none glowing organisms. It reproduces via conjugation, a step up from mitosis.
