Ancestor:Descendants:

The longclaw urpoi split from its ancestor, the raq urpoi, and followed the crested gilltail into the Kenotai Salt Marsh. Like its ancestor, it still lurks within the bubblgea stands that float in the Salt Marsh, but it has adopted a slightly different hunting strategy. Its manipulator tentacles have grown longer and have become much more dexterous, allowing it fine manipulation. It lies in wait in the bubblgea, waiting for a gilltail to pass by, and lashes out with its claws when one does. After grasping the creature, it pulls it back to impale it on its proboscis. Its caudal fin has changed from a more continuous form to a more truncate shape, as its hunting method doesn't require much prolonged speed. They hunt in loose groups, surrounding a gilltail unseen before striking, and still communicate with their bio-luminescent markings. Their fin-pores have moved up so they can surface slightly and release their carbon dioxide above the water's surface to prevent telltale bubbles from alerting their prey.
